    That’s pretty much how I was taught to tie down stuff to trucks, too. The only thing I do different is make a figure eight knot for the loop that holds the load instead of just an overhand knot. I find it much easier to untie.

    Also, I love the way you cinch down your coiled rope! that is WAY easier than how I do it. Well, how I did it before I saw this, as it were. :)

    I’ve moved kids back and forth to college and tying down a canoe are a couple of the more challenging uses for this technique that come to mind. They all made it in one piece.
