Aggregate Working Load Limit
Aggregate working load limit is the combined credited WLL of the tiedowns or securement devices used for a load.
Plain-English Meaning
Aggregate WLL is a capacity check. It starts with the rated devices being used, then depends on how they are attached and how the applicable rule credits them.
The calculation should be done with known WLL values and a clear understanding of direct and indirect tiedowns. It should also account for damaged equipment and weak anchor points.
In day-to-day freight work, the safest use of the term is narrow and factual. Confirm the current rule, equipment rating, shipment condition, and company procedure before using any glossary definition for a live securement decision.
Watchouts
- Counting devices is not the same as calculating capacity.
- Direct and indirect tiedowns may be credited differently.
