Sealed Trailer
A sealed trailer is a trailer closed with a numbered or controlled seal that limits access to the cargo area.
Plain-English Meaning
A seal can help show whether a trailer was opened, but it also limits what the driver can inspect. That makes paperwork notes, seal records, shipper communication, and exterior condition checks more important.
A sealed load can still shift. The driver should not certify unseen facts and should follow company policy when the load cannot be inspected.
In claim documentation, the seal is one fact in the shipment record. Pair it with trailer number, time, visible door condition, and any note about who loaded or sealed the freight.
In day-to-day freight work, the safest use of the term is narrow and factual. Confirm the current rule, equipment rating, shipment condition, and company procedure before using any glossary definition for a live securement decision.
